Meanwhile, the battered woman accused of killing her husband got unlikely character letters of support from her mother-in-law and brother-in-law, Breaking AC reports.
Defense attorneys and Hamilton police say a fight between Marylue Wiggleworth and her violent husband led to the slaying.
But that wasn't enough to persuade a judge who ordered Wigglesworth, 51, to remain jailed pending her murder trial at a detention hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Marylue Wigglesworth claimed she killed him in self-defense despite Atlantic County prosecutors pointing out that the victim, 57-year-old David Wigglesworth, was watching TV while naked in bed when he died, the New York Post reports.
Wigglesworth’s defense lawyers argued that their client has been “overcharged” for acting in self-defense, claiming that the woman “feared for her life” during the deadly struggle with her violent husband, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
